Family walks, summit tours and a winter toboggan run

The Mariandlalm (1,200 m) sits where the Trockenbachtal valley meets the Trainsjoch — a rewarding destination for easy family walks and a starting point for summit tours. Here are a few suggestions for your hike up to us and beyond.

An easy walk from the Ursprungpass car park into the Trockenbachtal — first on the forest road, then on a signposted trail across the alpine meadows straight to the hut. The ideal introduction, manageable with children too.

Continue from the hut across the alpine pastures to the summit of the Trainsjoch. From the top, sweeping views to the Wilder Kaiser, into the Kaisertal and across the Brandenberg Alps.

When there's snow, the forest road from the Ursprungpass doubles as a toboggan run: walk up to the hut, stop in, and sled back down to the valley. Please ask about snow conditions in advance.

Good to know

  • The forest road up to the hut is reserved for residents — please park at the Ursprungpass car park.
  • Pack sturdy footwear and weatherproof clothing.
  • We take cash only at the hut — card payments aren't available.
  • Dogs on a lead are welcome — please be mindful of the grazing animals.
